Staind's Aaron Lewis Says Guns Not Responsible For Shootings

(1/18/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- Shootings at a New York City high school and a Grundy, Virginia law school this week have once again sparked debate on guns and violence in schools. Staind frontman Aaron Lewis told LAUNCH that people are looking at the weapon used in the violence, not the cause.
Lewis told LAUNCH whether it's Columbine or any other school violence situation, the cause of the violence is not the gun. "I really feel that...You've heard so many people say it, but it's so freaking true. Guns do not kill people. People kill people. People can kill someone with a knife. You can kill someone with a f--kin' pencil! Are we going to outlaw pencils? It's not the weapon that's killing people. It's the people that are killing the people," he said.
Lewis added that authorities shouldn't look at music as a trigger either. "It's just like for a period of time they were trying to blame what happened at Columbine on the music people were listening to."
