(10/9/03, 3 p.m. ET) -- Linkin Park has set Live In Texas as the name of their upcoming CD and DVD. The disks were filmed and recorded at an August 2 show in Houston, Texas, and an August 3 performance in Irving, Texas. Both concerts were part of the Summer Sanitarium 2003 tour, on which Linkin Park, along with Limp Bizkit, Deftones, and Mudvayne, opened for Metallica. Live In Texas is due out in November.
The disks will feature tracks from both Linkin Park albums, 2000's Hybrid Theory and 2003's Meteora. Meteora, which came out last spring, was recently certified triple platinum for sales of over three million copies.
The band will perform at this year's Smokeout Festival on November 15 in San Bernardino, California. Cypress Hill and Pennywise are also confirmed to appear. Linkin Park will announce their own headlining tour soon.
Linkin Park DJ Joseph "Mr." Hahn has acquired the rights to a dark fantasy novel called King Rat, by British author China Mieville, for his feature film directorial debut. Pre-production on the film won't start until at least the end of the year, when Linkin Park finishes its touring activities.
Despite protests from Islamic groups, Linkin Park recently received permission from the Malaysian government to play a concert in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur on October 15. The band must not scream, jump around, use dirty words, wear shorts, or make obscene gestures during the show, as per the government's code of "artist performance ethics."
