Eddy Arnold , Brenda Lee and Connie Smith are among the performers who will pay tribute to singer-songwriter Don Gibson in a public memorial Dec. 3 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
The memorial will be in the Ford Theater, Hall of Fame officials said Tuesday. Gibson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
Gibson died Nov. 17 of natural causes at Baptist Hospital. He was 75. He was buried Saturday in a family plot in his native Shelby, N.C.
Between 1958 and the mid-1960s, Gibson's songs, which include the classics "I Can't Stop Loving You," "Sweet Dreams" and "Oh Lonesome Me," were hits for the singer-songwriter and other performers.
Others scheduled to offer spoken and musical tributes are Harold Bradley, Mandy Barnett , Dick Frank, Bob Whittaker, Robert K. Oermann and Ray Walker of the Jordanaires.
