Modern rock outfit Filter is making
headway on its fourth album, which it hopes to release next
summer, according to posts by frontman Richard Patrick on the
group's official Web site (http://www.officialfilter.com).
"This material is f***ing amazing, as I've said in the
past," reads Patrick's latest missive, posted to the site on
Christmas Eve. "I've got like 10 songs written. I'm really
pleased with how it's all coming out."
Patrick has been writing songs with producer Rae Dileo and
also notes that former Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell
stopped by the studio to contribute some riffs.
Patrick recorded earlier this year with the project Damning
Well, featuring former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland ,
producer Danny Lohner and Josh Freese of A Perfect Circle . The
"supergroup" contributed a song to the Lakeshore Records
soundtrack to the vampire film "Underworld."
Filter's last album, "The Amalgamut" (Reprise/Warner
Bros.), debuted at No. 32 on the U.S. pop album charts in
August 2002.
