Australian musicians, including members of Jet, the Living End and the Dissociatives -- a new band featuring Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns -- are taking part in the Australia Unites - Reach Out to Asia concert and telethon this Saturday (January 8) to aid tsunami victims, Billboard.com reports.
Artists scheduled to participate in the show, which will be broadcast on radio and TV in Australia, are members of five different Aussie bands. Jet vocalist Nic Cester, the Living End guitarist Chris Cheney, You Am I guitarist Dave Lane, Spiderbait drummer Mark "Kram" Maher and Dallas Crane bassist Pat Bourke will perform as a one-time "supergroup" for the concert. The 1980s band Noiseworks is also reuniting for the Reach Out to Asia benefit.
The benefit, which takes place outside the Sydney Opera House, is nearly sold out. Proceeds from the show will go to the World Vision charity, which has raised more than $20 million to aid tsunami victims.
Overall, Australians have donated more than $85 million, with the government committing $60 million in funds.
