Matchbox Twenty Guitarist Confirms Departure From Band

Last month, it was reported that Matchbox Twenty rhythm guitarist Adam Gaynor had parted ways with the band. Now Gaynor is speaking up to confirm the split with a recent posting on his official Website (adamgaynor.net). He writes, "As you may have read, I will no longer be a member of the band. I know most of you were confused if not angered by this news. I wish there was some bright rainbow of an answer here...but there is not."

Although no official reason has been given for his departure, Gaynor went on to say that he had a difficult time explaining things to his fans because the situation has been very "personal." Gaynor said he will be performing solo acoustic shows, along with working on a recording and publishing deal.

Meanwhile, the other Matchbox Twenty members are on a break and are pursuing their own projects. Frontman Rob Thomas will release his debut solo album, Something To Be, this May, with a tour expected to follow. Lead guitarist Kyle Cook has been touring with his side project, the New Left, and told LAUNCH that he always looks forward to playing with the rest of the band: "I always felt that there was something magical when we played together, so I think it's always exciting to see what's gonna happen next time we get in a room and just have a couple of songs to kick around. And you know it always seem to just happen. People always respond to it, so that's always exciting just to see what going to happen there. As far as exactly when that will happen, I don't know. But I know that everybody wants that to happen."

A Matchbox Twenty greatest hits album is planned for late 2006, according to Undercover News.
