Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has fallen seriously ill, forcing the band to cancel the rest of their European tour and possibly endangering the start of the group's North American trek. According to NME.com, the band's remaining shows in Germany and England were scrapped after Homme began coughing up blood in his hotel room. A statement from the band's management said, "Queens Of The Stone Age were forced to halt their mini-tour on Tuesday, February 22 after singer Josh Homme began coughing up blood in his Paris hotel room. What doctors in Amsterdam initially diagnosed as the flu was found to be a serious lung infection. This resulted in his immediate return to the United States."
A posting on the official Queens website said, "We've toured with everything from broken ankles to bruised livers, but simply weren't prepared for this relentless attack of teeming bacteria."
The group promised to return and make up the canceled gigs. The dates affected were Thursday (February 24) in Koln, Germany, Saturday (February 26) in Berlin, Germany, and March 3 in London, England, where the band was scheduled to play three shows on the same day.
There's no word yet on whether the Queens' North American tour, which is slated to begin on March 15 in Austin, Texas, will be affected by Homme's illness.
