Green Day Salutes September 11 Heroes At Detroit Concert

Green Day was among the many taking notice Sunday (September 11) of the fourth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. Prior to playing "Wake Me Up When September Ends" at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told the crowd that "this song goes out to all the heroes from September 11, 2001."

Green Day had made appearances the two previous days on televised telethons to raise money for Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts.

Green Day plays Monday (September 12) at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
