The Game was arrested on Friday (October 28) when police officers responding to a call from the Four Seasons Town Centre in Greensboro, North Carolina, were allegedly unable to get the rapper to calm down. The Game was in the mall wearing a mask when he began to sign autographs. The Associated Press reports that he was talking loudly and being disruptive. After he allegedly refused a request by mall security to leave, the authorities were called in. The police were unable to calm the rapper down and eventually arrested him. They were also allegedly forced to use pepper spray when the Game's associates surrounded them.
The Game had a different take on the incident. He told WFMY-TV, "I got arrested for signing autographs. Signing a little girl's autograph got me arrested."
The rapper added, "They thought I was Rodney King, man. It was a case of mistaken identity. It's unfair, man. Their behavior's unfair."
The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, was arrested along with an associate and charged with two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. They were released on $500 bail.
The police department has also initiated an internal investigation to see if excessive force was used. A police representative said, "Whenever there's a use in force, regardless of where it occurs or when it occurs, we always initiate an internal investigation and that's exactly what will happen in this case. There was a use of force and we made an arrest for two individuals who are part of the rap group the Game. When we applied pepper spray to those folks, that automatically means we will initiate an investigation to determine whether that was justified."
