Despite the success of frontman Rob Thomas' solo career, there's no question Matchbox Twenty will regroup for another album. However, Thomas said that the new project isn't likely to happen until some time next year.
"I think I'm really excited about stepping up for another Matchbox record,” Thomas said. “We're talking about it, but really it's really kind of in the abstract as far as our timeline is concerned. I gotta go overseas next year, and I really doubt that I'm gonna want to do this and jump right in the studio, you know. So there's gonna have to be a break involved."
Matchbox Twenty has released three albums, the most recent being More Than You Think You Are in 2002.
Guitarist Adam Gaynor has left the group during its current hiatus.
Thomas, who teamed with Santana on the Grammy-winning 1999 hit, "Smooth," co-wrote "My Man" for the new Santana album, All That I Am, which comes out Tuesday (November 1).
Thomas performs tomorrow in Denver, Colorado. His tour wraps up on November 10 in Detroit, Michigan.
