The Game might have game, but he apparently needs to work on his hoops etiquette.
The chart-topping, Grammy-nominated gangsta rapper was arrested Friday on suspicion of making criminal threats following a pickup basketball contest gone awry.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman, the rapper, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, was playing hoops near his Compton stomping grounds when a dispute arose. The 27-year-old rapper allegedly whipped out a pistol and threatened a fellow player.
After police handcuffed him, the hip-hopster stuck out his tongue at a camera crew and yelled, "I want to say I'm not guilty."
The Game spent several hours in jail until he posted $50,000 bail and was freed around 2 a.m. Saturday.
While he was cooling his heels in the lockup, police spent three hours searching his 5,000-square-foot home in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale.
Prosecutors are waiting for the police to finish their investigation before filing any charges.
There was no immediate comment from the Game's publicist.
Game, who earned his nickname playing high school basketball, sold nearly 2.5 million copies of his 2005 Dr. Dre-helmed debut album, The Documentary.
The rapper used to run with Fiddy's G-Unit posse, but parted ways with the group in 2005 under highly acrimonious circumstances. A series of incidents, which began as verbal attacks and quickly escalated into shots being fired at his radio station appearances, followed his departure.
In March, G-Unit member Tony Yayo pleaded innocent to beating up the 14-year-old son of Game's manager, in an apparent escalation of the feud.
