In midst of writers strike, People's Choice Awards may be revamped

In the midst of the Hollywood writers strike, People's Choice Award organizers may retool the format for the Jan. 8 ceremony, two people close to the show told The Associated Press.

It wasn't immediately known Wednesday how the show might be revised, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. They also were unsure what role would be played by Queen Latifah, who was previously announced as host.

Both people said they could not comment on whether the changes under consideration were related to the strike. The Writers Guild of America on Monday vowed it wouldn't allow members to write for the Oscars and the Golden Globes telecasts.

The People's Choice ceremony, in which the public chooses its favorite entertainers, is set to air Jan. 8 on CBS.
