Mary J. Obliges a Fashionable New Fan

Mary J. Blige may have been living the high life for quite some time now. But despite a plethora of chart-topping hits, collabos with some of the hottest artists in the industry and respect from fellow musicians, the R&B singer hasn't forgotten where she came from. Following in the footsteps of Renée Zellweger, Mary J. gave an ordinary girl some serious star fashion treatment. Last week, Mary J. was at the Diane von Furstenberg store in NYC when she overheard a a girl having a problem at the register. According to Page Six, the customer had a dress on hold that she loved, and the bill was $900. She thought it was only $500, and she couldn't afford it. Blige told the saleswoman, "Go get the girl. I want to pay for the balance on the dress." The customer at first declined Blige's offer but relented after Mary said, "I know what it's like to want something and not be able to have it. I insist." The girl reportedly wanted to send her a check for the balance, but Blige said, "Just enjoy it. I'm blessed, so let me do this.'" Mary J. may be the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, but kudos to her for remembering what it was like before she wore the crown.
