Alicia Keyed Into AMAs; Coldplay Hot on Heels

Alicia Keys is the all-American girl. The R&B diva scored a leading five nominations for this year's American Music Awards, nabbing nods for Favorite Album and Favorite Female Artist in both Pop/Rock and R&B genres, as well as scoring a nomination for Artist of the Year. Already the Best Act in World courtesy of Britain's Q Awards, Coldplay is looking for some U.S. of A. love. The Chris Martin-led crew's nods included Favorite Album for Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, and Artist of the Year nomination, vying against Keys, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and the Eagles. As it is, the O.G. rocking Eagles matched Coldplay's four nominations. Four-time AMAs host Jimmy Kimmel, along with Jesse McCartney and Dancing With the Stars pro turned country twanger Julianne Hough, revealed the nominees this morning. Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Taylor Swift, the Pussycat Dolls and New Kids on the Block will be among the perfomers on the 36th Annual AMAs, joining the previously announced Jonas Brothers and Pink. For the second consecutive year, all winners will be chosen by fans via online voting at amavote.com. Voting will close Nov. 7. The show will air live from Los Angeles Nov. 23 on ABC.
