Black Eyed Peas Spell The E.N.D. for DMB

A little "Boom Boom Pow" has gone a long way for the Black Eyed Peas. With its single dominating the Hot 100 for two months now, it's really no surprise that the hip-hop supergroup's new album, The E.N.D., has debuted at No. 1, a first for will.i.am, Fergie and cohorts. The E.N.D., the group's first new release in four years, moved more than 304,000 copies for the week ended Sunday, per Nielsen SoundScan. B.E.P. previously peaked at No. 2 with 2005's Monkey Business, which finished behind Coldplay's hugely popular X&Y. Even on the solo side, Fergie never topped the album charts with The Duchess. With the Peas popping, last week's chart-topper, Dave Matthews Band's Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, dropped to No. 2 with 128,000. Elsewhere, Latin act Aventura pulled off a career-high of its own, selling 47,000 copies of Last at No. 5. Mos Def and Pleasure P, meanwhile, battled it out for the final two spots in the Top 10. Mos Def's The Ecstatic narrowly took the No. 9 spot over the Pretty Ricky singer's Introduction of Marcus Cooper at No. 10. Both albums sold about 39,000. Further down, Sonic Youth also landed a career-high at No. 18 with The Eternal, though it took the group nearly three decades to pull off its first Top 20 debut. Next week, look for the Jonas Brothers to bounce the Peas as Lines, Vines and Trying Times aims for No. 1. Overall sales were about even with last week but down 32 percent compared to the same week last year when Lil Wayne sold over 1 million first-week copies of Tha Carter III. Here's a Top 10 recap: • The E.N.D., Black Eyed Peas
