Radiohead song honors UK's last WWI survivor

08/05/2009 12:00 PM, AP

Radiohead has recorded a song in tribute to Britain's last World War I survivor.

The rock band's song is inspired by a radio interview the late veteran Harry Patch gave in 2005 recounting the horrors of war. It includes the lyrics "I am the only one that got through, the others died whereever they fell."

Patch recently died at age 111.

"Harry Patch (In Memory Of)" debuted on the BBC radio's "Today" program Wednesday and is available to download from the band's Web site. All profits go to the Royal British Legion — a charity for British veterans.

Patch's funeral will be held at Wells Cathedral in Somerset, southwest England, on Thursday.
