Straight out of Albany, GA is the next hip-hop sensation on MCA records simply known as Field Mob. The debut album 613: Ashy To Classy features hot beats with a dose of that funky southern hospitality. Boondox Blax and Kalage emerge from "the Dirty South" with a joint that, although at times presents a language barrier (those accents are thick), heats up the hip-hop scene.
In first single "Project Dreamz," Field Mob fantasizes of leaving the projects for a better life, hence the title. In a recent interview the two admit though they are not from the projects, though poverty, drug dealing and violence were no strangers to them. Switching from "fantasy" to "reality" on "Dead In Your Chevy," the two share a serious warning with those who snitch or don't pay their debts. It seems one's hooptie of choice (in this case a Chevy) can double as a coffin. "My Main Roni" describes an ironic twist of fate. In this tale, the guy seeks someone to "play with" but winds up falling in love with her. She in turns becomes not only his plaything, but his best friend as well.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander in the hilarious and adulterous "CheatinĘ On We." "When you were cheating on me/ I was cheating on you/ We both were cheating on we/ So what the f--k we gon' do," sings FM. As both partners were sharing their love with others, the guy took infidelity a step further. He cheated with his woman's mother. Moreover, out of her friends and hairdresser, her mom was the real freak.
613: Ashy To Classy is a compilation of booming beats and hot tracks surfing under true-to-life rhymes depicting life in the projects. From the soft side of a first love to the harsh touch of violence in the streets, these two talented 19-year-old southerners spit tales of life happening in more than just the 613.
