With insightful lyrics ("Think I'm unforgiven to this world/ Took a chance at deceiving myself/ Should'a been dead on a Sunday morning banging my head"), this Tallahassee quartet wrangle with the tight-fisted snare drum and guttural Southern accent of the tortured post-Nirvana angst-child. Creed do manage the odd melodic attraction, showing their knack for hummable hooks ("Only In America"), then mess it up with a raging guitar cliche or hyperactive neo-prog assault. The bunions on my butt say Molly Hatchet is starting to sound good.
