After years and years of bootlegging, the remaining Beatles decided it was time to give the fans "official" versions of the stuff they wanted. You get a few unreleased gems, but mostly alternate takes and many of their hits in development. The years are followed chronologically, with each Anthology documenting the various eras, although the first two anthologies feature the "new" Beatles tracks, "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love," respectively, taken from unfinished Lennon sessions--which, alas, sound somewhat ghoulish. The Fab Three say this is all there is...but that still hasn't stopped the bootleggers and all-Beatles stations.
