A New Day Has Come
03/28/2002 8:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Rob O'Connor
Pictures of sunsets, a photo montage of family pics, and a note from Celine letting us know that parenthood has completely changed her--and another batch of songs to accompany this change that doesn't sound much different from what you'd expect a Celine Dion album to sound like. The list of credits reads like a Who's Who's and a Remember Who of the music industry: Mutt Lange and his wife Shania, Aldo Nova, Corey Hart (Oribe does "Hair" while Daria and Sebla are the stylists)...the list goes on and on and on and on...It takes a lot of people to screw in a light at the Dion Corporation. With all this talk of change, the album itself is exactly what you might expect. Lots of pop fluff--electro-pop numbers, piano ballads with strings, a cover of "Nature Boy"--recorded state of the art filled with the insights of someone who attended Hallmark U. You really do wonder if anyone really thinks like this. And if they do, is there a way to get a table very far away from them? New day? Same as the old one.
