No Remorse Review

07/13/2005 4:00 AM, AMG

1984's No Remorse is an awesome double-disc anthology of nothing but Motörhead's very best tracks. The 1999 reissue on Castle expanded the track listing to a meaty 29 selections, five of which weren't included on the original. While it doesn't come with a leather cover as the original limited-edition vinyl version did, the music still holds up as some of the most lethal, high-voltage heavy metal ever. Easily one of the most important and influential bands to come out of the late-'70s/early-'80s New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement (just listen to Metallica and Megadeth), No Remorse is the ultimate purchase for the newcomer just discovering this great outfit. Mixing studio with live material, highlights include the album-opening "Ace of Spades," "Stay Clean," "Iron Fist," "Overkill," and "(We Are) The Road Crew," as well as a few interesting collaborations with Girlschool ("Please Don't Touch") and Wendy O. Williams ("No Class" and "Stand by Your Man"). There is no better Motörhead collection than No Remorse. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
