Two of her biggest albums ever on a two-in-one package. Ross reportedly was miffed at the Rogers/Edwards team throughout the sessions for Diana, but it still was a hugely successful LP, scoring on the R&B and pop charts and in the clubs. Likewise, The Boss was her second biggest hit album ever and her best from a sales perspective, going platinum and just missing topping the chart. This was the last great period for Diana Ross and may have been her undoing, because she ceased being a star through merit and became a celebrity instead. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
