Yesshows (Remastered) Review

Not Yessongs in terms of comprehensiveness of the material, and at just under 80 minutes, this could have been put on one CD. But this budget-priced double-disc set, newly remastered for its first CD release in the U.S., does feature key elements of the group's mid- and late-'70s repertory, including an excellent performance of "The Gates of Delirium," and along with "Parallels," "Don't Kill the Whale," "Ritual," and "Wonderous Stories," and their live reconsideration of "Time and a Word." Rick Wakeman is mostly featured, with a few Moraz tracks. The group is a good deal noisier on this record than they were on Yessongs, but the performances are reasonably urgent, and the sound is considerably improved over the old imported version from Japan. Only flaw is the indexing on disc two, which doesn't match the label. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
