And The King Cole Trio 1938-39 Review
07/13/2005 4:25 AM, AMG
This LP, which does not duplicate the Vintage Jazz Classics set called The Complete Early Transcriptions, contains the Nat King Cole Trio's earliest studio recordings, four selections apiece from Jan. 14 and Dec. 1939 that were originally released on the tiny Ammor and Davis & Schwegler labels. In addition, there are 12 radio transcriptions, four of which have vocals by Maxine Johnson. Fans of the Trio will enjoy these swinging obscurities. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
