What About Now Review

07/13/2005 5:37 AM, AMG

What About Now has its good moments. The music is generally strong, hedging the line between alternative and hard rock music. The melodies are often catchy, although sometimes there is too much movement within the songs, as if the writers couldn't make up their minds whether to make it a ballad or something upbeat. The Kry's purpose is to present a message, and that is what they do, particularly in songs like "I Believe." The lyrics are extremely straightforward and stick to the gospel, rarely, if ever, swaying from presenting it. "By the River" has a nice old-time gospel feel and is one of the more creative tracks on the album. "Down at the Cross" is simple instrumentally and lyrically, which adds up to the high point of the album. What About Now does what it needs to do, and very little more. ~ Melinda Hill, All Music Guide
