The Collection Review

Not one of the better Howlin' Wolf collections on the market, this live album is about as weak as any found in his vast catalogue. Mostly gone is the menacing growl and distorted guitar solos of his best work, which is mostly buried under drums and piano in generally weak arrangements. Not a bad set if you want variations of his classics such as "Dust My Broom," "Goin' Down Slow" or "Howlin' For My Darlin'," just don't expect improvements on the originals. Not a bad record, because Wolf just doesn't make bad records, but all the material can be found in stronger form elsewhere. ~ Matt Fink, All Music Guide
