If you're expecting these to be Wolf's celebrated Chess recordings, guess again. Despite the hyperbole in the title, what this 16-tracker offers instead is a package divided evenly between tracks from 1971's London Howlin' Wolf Sessions -- a session so uninspired that Eric Clapton has frequently disparaged his participation on it -- and a live bootleg recording from a European tour in the early '60s. An OK set if you already have the originals and are looking to fill some holes in the set; otherwise, pass this one by. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
