Before The Next Teardrop Falls (MCA Special) Review
07/13/2005 7:26 AM, AMG
Not to be confused with Freddy Fender's hit 1975 album of the same name, MCA Special Products' Before the Next Teardrop Falls contains a selection of ten highlights from his ABC/Dot recordings of the second half of the '70s. Although it falls short of being a definitive hits compilation, it's surprisingly thorough for a budget-line collection, containing his biggest singles and best-loved songs -- "Before the Next Teardrop Falls," "Secret Love," "You'll Lose a Good Thing," "Living it Down" and "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights." The remainder of the disc features very good album tracks, most culled from his first two records for the label. The result is a satisfying budget-line disc -- and it's not all that often that budget-line discs are satisfying. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
