Greatest Hits (Edsel) Review
07/13/2005 6:31 AM, AMG
Freddy Fender's Greatest Hits collects 25 recordings made for Crazy Cajun Records in the mid-'70s. Taking the advice of Huey P. Meaux, the owner of the Houston-based Crazy Cajun label, Fender recorded country material that maintained a slight Tex-Mex feel. The winning combination resulted in many of the memorable crossover country-pop tunes of the era, including the hit singles "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" and "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights." They still sound fresh today. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
