Sings The Animals' Greatest Hits Review
07/13/2005 6:12 AM, AMG
A somewhat misleading album title, the majority of this record consists of live War tracks with Burdon singing lead. Of course, there are some tracks that Burdon made famous with his first group, the Animals. The Burdon/War readings of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," "House of the Rising Sun," and "When I Was Young" are indeed effective and show what an incredible fusion they had. The album also includes the pilot Burdon/War hit single, "Spill the Wine," which sounds even better today than when it was released in 1970. Overall, the record is a catch-all of Burdon/War tracks, and still it maintains a real appeal. ~ Matthew Greenwald, All Music Guide
