2Gether On 1: Neil Sedaka/Circulate Review
07/13/2005 6:20 AM, AMG
Though Neil Sedaka earned his reputation as a pop/rock songwriter, very little of his early work was well-developed. That is proved by the two-fer disc, which combines his early '60s albums Neil Sedaka and Circulate. Both albums try to capitalize on then-current pop trends, with Sedaka trying his hand at bouncy pop, dance crazes, rock & roll, and ballads. Apart from the hits "The Diary" and the frenzied "I Go Ape," most of the songs on the albums are simply dull, rendering the disc nothing more than an enjoyable, well-produced period piece. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
