Miranda Lambert Has Strong Words For Chris Brown

Miranda Lambert has never had a reputation as a shrinking violet--but she's attracting some attention this week for her acerbic comments toward R&B star Chris Brown, who was granted two performance slots on this year's Grammy Awards telecast.

"Chris Brown twice? I don't get it. He beat on a girl...Not cool that we act like that didn't happen," the country star tweeted on Sunday. "He needs to listen to Gunpowder and lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys."

Lambert was referring, first, to the fact that Brown pleaded guilty in 2009 to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna--and, second, to her own hit "Gunpowder And Lead," which details an abused wife's plans to shoot her incarcerated husband once he's out of jail.

"His fist is big but my gun's bigger/He'll find out when I pull the trigger," is a key lyric from the tune.

Brown served probation and did community service for his conviction, and his appearance at the Grammys was his first since the incident occurred. He reportedly responded to criticism such as Lambert's--who was certainly not alone in her opinion--with a tirade of profanity-laced tweets, which were removed from his profile shortly after posting.

His final tweet, reportedly, read "HATE ALL YOU WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F--- OFF!" To which Lambert noted, "I have a Grammy too" with a smiley emoticon.

Lambert, who is married to The Voice star Blake Shelton, additionally had some snarky commentary about Nicki Minaj's Grammy performance ("How dang long did they give Nicki Minaj to do whatever that was? Strange"). However, she praised Adele, Jennifer Hudson, and Bruno Mars; as well as noted favorably country music's overall strong contribution to the awards ceremony.

What do you think--do you agree with Miranda? Or do you think Chris has served his time?
