Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus Takes Detroit Stage Dressed Like…A New Dad
One thing you can say about Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus: He sure takes his job seriously. The bassist for the multiplatinum-selling trio is so dedicated, in fact, that he woke up Friday morning in Detroit, flew to Nashville to witness the birth of his second child, and flew back to his scheduled show in Motor City that evening.
DeMarcus was so squeezed for time that he didn't even have a minute to change out of his hospital scrubs and ID bracelet. So he took the stage dressed like...well, a proud papa. Local radio station 99.5 WYCD reported the whole deal as it took place, and posted a photo of him to prove it!
Meanwhile, DeMarcus's new son, Dylan Jay, and wife Allison were reportedly doing just fine in their Nashville hospital room. Apparently, Allison DeMarcus understood that the show must go on--as an on-air personality for CMT, she's familiar with just how dedicated country music fans can be!
Little Dylan Jay joins big sister Madeline Leigh, who will be 2 in December. "He's gorgeous, just like his dad," DeMarcus quipped on his Twitter account, while fans and friends (including Joe Don Rooney's wife Tiffany Fallon) tweeted a stream of congrats.
