‘Voice’ Semifinalist Diego Val Reemerges With Sons Of Mariel

Diego Val sort of got a raw deal on "The Voice"--competing on Team Cee Lo, arguably Season 3's strongest team, and additionally being forced by Cee Lo Green to sing a Latin pop song that absolutely didn't suit him, Enrique Iglesias's "Bailamos," during the Live Playoffs.

Diego ended up going home last Thursday, but now, thanks to Sons Of Mariel, his new project with Black Eyed Peas cohort George Pajon, he's back to making the raw, organic, rootsy music that is his stock in trade.

And Sons Of Mariel's just-premiered video for "I Told You," shot at Grateful Dead legend Bob Weir's TRI Studios in San Rafael, California, is giving me some Extreme/"More Than Words" realness here. That's a good thing, of course.

What do you think of Diego's duo? Wish you'd seen more of this side of him on "The Voice"? Let me know.
