Los Angeles fine art photographer and filmmaker Michelle Alexis Newman captured her 89-year-old landlady lip-singing her favourite song, “Happy Days Are Here Again” by Annette Hanshaw. The result is sure to put a smile on your face.
Featured on YouTube by SoulPancake (the same channel that brought us the viral “A Pep Talk from Kid President to You” video,) the clip stars Carol Lyn Black -- and judging by the video's comments section, she is inspiring viewers to cheer up.
“This video'll be my new mantra!” one audience member wrote.
Commented another: “I just had the worst week possible but now that i've seen this video, I'm pretty sure my happy days are here again! :')”
Our favourite parts of the video are when Black smiles during certain lyrics and claps along as she bobs her head to the music and even continues to sing during the track’s instrumental break.
In 2001, the Recording Industry of America and the National Endowment for the Arts named “Happy Days Are Here Again” on their list of "Songs of the Century," placing it at No. 47.
