How Carly Rae Jepsen named her new album “Kiss”

After announcing that her new album would be titled "Kiss," "Call Me Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepsen has revealed what motivated her to give her new record such a fun and flirty name.

"You know, I was at an interview once, and someone just came out and asked me 'What's your album going to be called?'" the 26-year-old told MTV. "I was like, 'Kiss,' and that was how I decided."

She also said, "It really is an album about love, flirtation and the beginnings of things and it felt like it really suited it, and as well, there's a track called 'This Kiss' on the album, which I think is probably my favourite song so that's probably why."‪

Jepsen has mentioned "This Kiss" before and shares some interesting writing credits on the tune.

"There's one particular song that I can't wait to share called 'This Kiss' that I wrote with Matthew Koma (her boyrfriend) and Redfoo from LMFAO," she said. "[The sound is] definitely in my vein, but [Redfoo's] a really brilliant guy, and I think, if anything, when a collaboration happens, it's a little bit of everybody that makes it what it is. So maybe not just me and not just him, but us together."

The B.C.-native also premiered the artwork for her new debut through her Twitter feed recently and told MTV that she was going for a "'Saved by the Bell' vibe" for the album's cover.

We assume that Jepsen's mentor, Justin Bieber, approves of the creative direction the singer's new album is taking given that he has already publicly demonstrated his appreciation for Bayside High School's favourite cheerleader, Kelly Kapowski.

"Kiss" comes out Sept. 18.
