Cassadee Pope has learned a lot on her musical journey.
The singer, who won season 3 of "The Voice," reveals to Yahoo Canada Music that she's learned a certain lesson from her Big Machine Records label mate Taylor Swift on how to make it in the music business.
“She’s a hard worker,” Pope said. “Even now, she’s the biggest country and pop singer in the world and she’s still working hard. She’s not taking vacations and time off to just take a breather … I know that she got to where she is because she worked hard [and] I’m never going to stop because I want to get there, too.”
Since she was a young girl, the Florida native has been pushing towards her goal of becoming a successful musician. Today, it seems like now more than ever, she will stop at nothing to make her musical dreams a reality.
“I have a certain goal in mind to be a massive artist that’s able to make this a career, sell out arenas and have everybody singing your words back to you,” she explained. “It’s been my dream since I was four-years-old. I’m now 24 and it’s still my dream and I’m still working really hard for it...."
"There’s no plan B because I don’t like to think about that dream not coming true.”
In an effort to reach her goal, Pope will release her first solo country album “Frame By Frame” on Oct. 8. The album features songs like the hit single “Wasting All These Tears," as well as a revealing track about living through her parents’ divorce called “11.”
“I was a little too young and a little too dumb to ever think the day would come,” she sings in the heartbreaking tune. “When dad would drive away and take his love with him / So I grew up fast in a whole new world / Waved goodbye to that little girl / I can see her now, innocent and seven / I wish I had never turned eleven.”
Sharing what can be a truly devastating event with the world might be a difficult thing to do for most people, but for Pope, it sounds like writing “11” has helped her heal and connected her with her fans on a new level.
“Writing a song about my parents’ divorce really made me feel like I was getting something off my chest,” the singer said. “I was letting the fans in on something that I had never shared before. It makes me feel like it’s another way for people to relate and know that they’re not alone in the things that they’re going through.”
This isn't Pope's first time in the spotlight. Previously, she fronted the pop/rock band Hey Monday.
