Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ gets an Irish tenor makeover

You probably haven’t heard Daft Punk’s tune “Get Lucky” like this before.

“Back in the day, ‘Get Lucky’ was the premise of every Lucky Charms cereal commercial,” pianist Scott Bradlee writes in the video’s description on YouTube. “As such, we decided to create a traditional (well, sorta..) Irish waltz cover of Daft Punk's hit song. I still have cereal bits stuck in my living room rug. Also note: we are not affiliated with General Mills or whatever company owns Guinness Beer. And, we're just having fun.”

The cover features vocals from Mitchell Jarvis and Robyn Adele Anderson, David Wong on violin, Stephanie Price on viola, Adam Kubota on bass, Chip Thomas on drums and Bradlee on keys.

In addition to giving “Get Lucky” the Irish tenor treatment, the pianist has also posted Motown tributes to Canadian tunes like Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me” and Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi” on his YouTube channel.

We are particularly fond of his swing rendition of Justin Bieber’s “Believe” album track “Beauty and a Beat.”

Fans seem to enjoy Bradlee’s Bieber cover, as they’ve left comments on the clip like, “Only way I can listen to this song...can't stand the original, but you turned it into something mystifying and truly beautiful."

While most of the pianist’s videos, like the Motown and swing tributes, have garnered hundreds of thousands of views, nothing can match his “Vintage ‘Grandpa Style’” cover of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop.” The clip has over two million views at press time.
