Fans outragpe prompts Abercrombie & Fitch to discontinue Taylor Swift T-shirt

Abercrombie & Fitch, the American retailer known for their hot male models and lack of manufacturing plus-sized apparel, has chosen to stop selling a certain T-shirt after Taylor Swift fans complained about it.

The T-shirt reads “# more boyfriends than t.s.” and Buzzfeed reports that fans were so outraged by the clothing item that they started a petition on Change.org. Judging by supporters’ reasons for signing, they seem pretty angry.

“It's just plain hurtful and insulting,” one supporter from Singapore wrote on the petition’s page. “Taylor's private life should remain so. It's unprofessional for such a huge company to insult and poke fun at a celebrity in one of their t-shirts. Besides, none of them knows exactly what goes on in Taylor's private life.”

Wrote another from Kingston, Penn.: “There is NO reason why Abercrombie and Fitch, or any company for that matter, should be putting all of the focus on one individual, like T.Swift, for problems that occur in everyone's lives.”

Taking to their Twitter account, Abercrombie & Fitch released a statement on the matter, writing:

The brand has also equipped their public relations voice mail greeting with an update on the shirt’s discontinued status, but that hasn’t stopped Swifties from leaving their complaints and threats to never shop there again.

In the past, Swift has been romantically linked to famous men like Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Conor Kennedy and One Direction’s Harry Styles.

Last October, the songstress even had to publicly endure Ellen DeGeneres’s line of questioning about past relationships and which songs on her album “Red” were about which alleged love interest.

The singer’s love life has become somewhat of a running joke over the years. As you might recall, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler referenced it during this year’s Golden Globe Awards, making a crack about why Swift should stay away from Canadian actor Michael J. Fox’s son.
