The funniest misheard song lyrics of 2012

PSY’s “Gangnam Style” and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” ruled the charts in 2012 and it was hard to go a single day without hearing them.

However, even though you might have heard these tunes all the time, that doesn’t mean that you understood all of the song’s lyrics correctly.

YouTube user pleatedjeans (also known as Jeff Wysaski) has gone through some of the biggest hits of 2012 and created a video that includes what listeners “think” they hear instead of a track’s actual lyrics and some of them are quite hilarious.

Actual Lyrics: “Oppa Gangnam style/Gangnam style.”

Misheard Lyrics: “Tonight, we are yum/ So let’s set the wood on fire/We can cook’em right up/Venison.”
Actual Lyrics: “We are young/So let’s set the world on fire/We can burn brighter than the sun.”

Song: “Payphone” by Maroon 5
Misheard Lyrics: “If ‘happy ever after’ dead exit/I would still be holding you like fish.”
Actual Lyrics: “If ‘happy ever after’ did exist/I would still be holding you like this.”

Song: “Boyfriend” by Justin Bieber
Misheard Lyrics: “Tummy, what you like, yeah?/ Tummy, what you don’t/ I could be your Buzz Lightyear/Fly across a goat.”
Actual Lyrics: “Tell me what you like, yeah/Tell me what you don’t/I could be your Buzz Lightyear, fly across the globe.”

Last November, Cdza (or Collective Cadenza) tackled a similar feat, but instead covered 70 years of incorrectly perceived lyrics in their video “History of Misheard Lyrics | Opus No. 13” taking on tunes by artists like composer Carl Orff and Canadian pop/punk princess Avril Lavigne.
