Jedward invades Toronto with music and style

Identical twins John and Edward Grimes, better known as Jedward, have taken over Toronto this past week visiting television shows like MuchMusic’s “New.Music.Live” and “Canada AM,” where they performed the title track from their latest album, “Young Love."

These energetic Irish lads are taking the music world by storm with their charming personalities and catchy tunes and to help you get better acquainted with them, here are some fun facts about this set of 21-year-old twins that you might not know.

1. They got their start on “The X Factor UK.”
John and Edward auditioned in 2009 for Season Six of “The X Factor UK” and made it to the top six on the show. At press time, their first audition where they performed the Backstreet Boys’ “As Long You Love Me” has been viewed more than 5.5 million times.

2. They love Avril Lavigne.

3. John’s cover of Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” has over 2.1 million views on YouTube.

4.Their talents extend outside of music.
In addition to singing, John and Edward also model, act and support organizations like The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

5. They like to make fans’ dreams come true.
The twins host a children’s television show called “OMG! Jedward's Dream Factory” in which fans send in their aspirations and the Irish duo helps them become a reality. Check out a clip from the show here.

6. They have three albums out.
Planet Jedward” (2009,) “Victory” (2011) and “Young Love” (2012.)

7. They met and performed for President Barack Obama wearing this:

8. Lady Gaga taught them the choreography to “Poker Face.”
In a 2010 interview, the duo recalled meeting Gaga prior to setting out on their Scottish tour, which included “Poker Face” in its set list, and said of Mother Monster, “We have met her twice before. We were talking about her outfits…Lady Gaga teaching us the dance moves for ‘Poker Face’ is crazy. She's the coolest pop star on the planet right now."

9. Their debut single “Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)” is a mash up of Queen’s “Under Pressure” and Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby.”
The pair even got to perform the track with the rapper in 2010.

10. They have been to the top of the CN Tower.

MuchMusic's New.Music.Live host Phoebe Dykstra took the twins up the tower so they could see "all of Toronto."
