Jessie J shaves her head for Red Nose Day

U.K. singing sensation Jessie J shaved off her signature black bob for a good cause on March 15 during the 25th annual Comic Relief fundraising event. According to her tweet, the singer is happy with her decision.

“I am soooo thankful to everyone who has donated @rednoseday and supported me tonight!” she wrote. “My heart is filled with happiness! Lets make a change! X.”

The money raised by the “Price Tag” hitmaker’s bold move went to benefit Red Nose Day, a charity that provides shelter for U.K. youths suffering from domestic abuse and those dealing with illnesses like malaria, HIV, AIDS and more in Africa.

Jessie J even inspired her fan and look-a-like, Melissa Frayne, to follow suit and also shave her head to raise money for charity.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a singer go almost bald for a noble cause. Last year, “American Idol” alum Kellie Pickler cut off her blonde locks, showing support for her 36-year-old friend Summer Holt Miller, who was diagnosed with breast cancer and was about to begin chemotherapy.

We applaud these musicians for their strength and commitment to bringing awareness to their respective causes.
