Kelly Rowland receives fan support after crying during show

While performing in Washington, D.C., at the Fillmore Silver Spring on May 26, former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland bent over in tears before she finished singing her new track “Dirty Laundry.”

“Doing this song for me was so therapeutic,” The Washington Post reports she said during the show. “Honesty, like my mama always says, is always the best policy.”

Sitting on a stool and wearing ripped jean shorts and black boots, the 32-year-old singer poured her soul into the song about domestic violence and her best friend Beyoncé, letting her emotions get the better of her while singing these lyrics:

“He hittin' the window like it was me, until it shattered / He pulled me out, he said, ‘Don’t nobody love you but me / Not your mama, not your daddy and especially not Bey’ / He turned me against my sister / I missed you.”

In the video, we see Rowland double over and then lean back in her seat while wiping her eyes starting at around the 4:20 minute mark and then bravely continue to sing after hearing encouragement from the crowd.

Online, the positive words for the singer continued in the form of Facebook posts like, “The Best thing about Dirty Laundry, is that you can send it to the cleaners and come out smelling like a Rose! DC show was amazing! You go girl!”

Wrote another: “I was there LOVED IT,,,LOVED IT. We had tears in our eyes with u.”

In addition to singing about her experience with domestic abuse, Rowland also touches on her relationship with her “sister” Beyoncé in “Dirty Laundry” with heavy lyrics like:

“While my sister was on stage, killing it like a motherf---er / I was enraged, feeling it like a motherf---er / … Went our separate ways, but I was happy she was killing it / Bittersweet, she was up, I was down / No lie, I feel good for her, but what do I do now? / … Post Survivor, she on fire, who wanna hear my bullsh--?”

It’s interesting to see what might be the other side of the friendship that exists between these two former band mates. However, it can’t be all bad blood, since all of Destiny’s Child, including Michelle Williams, teamed up for the song “You’ve Changed” on Rowland’s new album “Talk a Good Game,” due out June 18.
