Kendrick Lamar calls out Drake in his new song

Kendrick Lamar is courting controversy after calling out some of the biggest names in rap in his newly released collaboration with Big Sean.

“Control”, released online less than 24 hours ago and which features a guest turn from the 26-year-old Lamar, is already trending on Twitter and sending shockwaves through the industry.

In the contentious track, Lamar, who was recently announced as the winner of MTV’s ‘Hottest MC’ poll, calls out some of the biggest names in the business including the likes of Jay Z, A$AP Rocky and Toronto native Drake. In his verse, Lamar promises to “murder” his competition and steal the stars’ fans out from under them.

He states: "I'm usually homeboys with the same n----s i'm rhymin wit / But this is hip hop and them n----s should know what time it is / And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron', Tyler, Mac Miller / I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you n----s / Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n----s."

Lamar has previously collaborated with many of the artists that he calls out in his lyrics.l And yes, he's even worked with Drake -- they collaborated on the Ontarian’s Grammy-award-winning album “Take-Care” as well as this year’s smash hit single “Poetic Justice.”

While there has been a backlash of sorts online, so far none of the rappers mentioned in the song have made any negative response to Lamar’s lyrics. In fact, Pusha T, who’s one of the names called out, actually took to Twitter to voice his support for the “Poetic Justice” singer.

He’s not alone, either. Missy Elliot also took to the social networking site to tell her 1.8million followers:
