Beyoncé will headline the halftime show when Super Bowl XLVII takes over the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 3, but it might surprise you to know that the singer will not be collecting a performance fee for the gig.

NME reports that the NFL will only cover production fees which amounts to approximately $600,000 and it’s likely that “Love On Top” hitmaker or her sponsor Pepsi will foot the bill for any extra expenses.

The article also states that last year, Madonna’s halftime show featuring appearances by artists like Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A. cost $1 million to execute and was watched by 114 million people in the United States.

According to Billboard, the Material Girl’s performance “is the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show featuring entertainment” and it will be interesting to see if Beyoncé can beat that record this Sunday.

Madonna was also not paid for her set either. Marc Ganis, the president of the sports business-consulting firm Sportscorp Ltd. tells Forbes the practice isn’t uncommon.

“Typically, the entertainers for the Super Bowl do not get a cash payment,” he said. “This is the kind of exposure that entertainers would give their right arm for … they could do 20 Leno and Letterman appearances and still not reach that [kind of] audience.”

The audience size is definitely a huge perk of performing during the halftime show, but even the most popular entertainers seem to be affected by the idea of so many people watching.

"First of all, it's the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is kind of like the holiest of holy in America," Madonna said before hitting the stage in 2012. “I have to put on the greatest show on earth in the middle of the greatest show on earth…I have eight minutes to set it up and seven minutes to take it down. I have 12 minutes to put on the greatest show on earth. Okay, that's a lot of pressure."
