The Vaccines cover Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”

English indie rock band The Vaccines have covered Taylor Swift's break-up anthem "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and let's just say that it totally rocks!

The London-based band covered the catchy track while appearing on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge yesterday in support of their new album "Come Of Age," but don't expect a duet between the band and Swift to happen given how guitarist Freddie Cowan feels about certain types of musical collaborations.

"I've never heard that song, but it's Coldplay - they'll do whatever they can to be the biggest band on earth, to be bigger than U2," Cowan said in an interview after he was asked if he would ever consider teaming up with another artist like Coldplay and Rihanna did on their track "Princess of China."

He also said, "They do it really well and they've never put out a bad album so hats off to them. I have nothing against those collaborations because I don't feel you can judge people, but I don't think I'll ever be involved in something like that. It needs artistic merit. Rihanna isn't an artist - she has 15 writers, 15 songwriters and 15 producers all fighting for space on her albums and she's the face of it. I have nothing against it, but I don't want to be associated with it."

However, given how the band feels about Swift, maybe a future collaboration could be a possibility.

"[Taylor Swift is] one of the few pop acts that genuinely interests us at the moment, or mainstream pop acts," lead singer Justin Young said. "We do absolutely love her. She has amazing songs and I know she plays a bigger part in writing them than a lot of people. I think she's a great artist."

Hopes and dreams of a future collaboration aside, The Vaccines' cover of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" has created quite the stir amongst viewers who are having a love/hate relationship with the rendition.

"There should be no hate about this because it's perfect," one YouTube viewer commented on the clip. "This is awful! I usually love this type of thing, but this is such a lazy cover. Just, ugh!" another viewer wrote in opposition, upset by the cover track.

Formed in 2010, The Vaccines features members Arni Arnason, Pete Robertson, Young and Cowan and are best known for tracks like "Wreckin' Bar (Ra Ra Ra)"/ "Blow It Up," "If You Wanna," "Nørgaard" and their latest song, "Teenage Icon."
