Sandy And Danny Reunite! John Travolta And Olivia Newton-John Debut Fun, Romantic New Tune On Xmas Album

For those who swooned over Sandy and Danny's "summer lovin'" in 1978's classic musical Grease--and perhaps wondered whatever was the characters' ultimate romantic fate--try this idea out for size. What if the star-crossed lovers reunited decades later for a little Christmas lovin'?

Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, who portrayed the famous couple in the movie, seem to like this concept as well. The pair have teamed up for a holiday album, This Christmas, featuring a new song that coyly suggests Sandy and Danny do still carry a flame for each other all these years--and make their dreams a reality this December.

"I Think You Might Like It," an upbeat pop number written by John Farrar (who is responsible for Grease's "You're The One That I Want"), explores a storyline in which Travola--er, Danny--flies into his hometown for a holiday visit. Newton-John--that is, Sandy--can't contain her excitement at seeing him again. The two end up suggesting "a little plan" involving a "dance or two" and ultimately ending up in an R-rated situation.

Travolta and Newton-John never explicitly refer to themselves as the Grease characters in the song, but it's fun to imagine, no? Listen to the tune for yourselves--it's track no. 10 on this full-album preview.

This Christmas also features the pair taking on beloved holiday classics, plus welcoming special star guests such as Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, James Taylor, and Cliff Richard. The proceeds from the project will be split between Travolta and Newton-John's respective favorite charities: The Jett Travolta Foundation, which was named in honor of Travolta's late son and helps children with disabilities; and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer And Wellness Centre, which the breast cancer survivor founded in Melbourne to aid cancer patients with treatment and support.
