Adam Braun and Justin Bieber team up for Pencils of Promise

Last year, Pencils of Promise founder Adam Braun announced that in 2012, Justin Bieber would be teaming up with his organization to assist in building schools for the 75 million children in the world without access to education.

"Justin's going to come in 2012 and we are going to figure it out, but he wants to help build a school," Braun said during the charity's gala last November.

Since then, Braun and Bieber launched the "Schools 4 All" campaign with a tech savvy contest element aimed at helping the younger generation get more involved in giving back.

To enter the contest, participants had to create a fundraising webpage and raise the most money to receive a special visit to the school of their choice by Bieber and Braun.

The contest lasted from April 15 — June 30, 2011 and raised almost $300,000. With the money earned, Pencils of Promise will be able to build 14 schools in Laos, Nicaragua, and Guatemala, in support of providing education to children in need.

For Bieber's 18th birthday, March 1, Braun sent a special message to him from Xonga, Laos where they decided to dedicate a school to the Canadian sensation as a thank you for all of his support and involvement in the project. They also dedicated schools to him in Nicaragua and Guatemala so that his "presence can be felt in all three countries."
