Hurricane Sandy 2012: How musicians are coping with the disaster

How has Hurricane Sandy affected your favourite musician?

As a result of the devastating effects caused by the massive storm, musicians have reacted by sharing personal experiences, cancelling or postponing shows and sending out messages of love and support.

Taking to Twitter, New Kids On The Block member Donnie Wahlberg, who is in New York for production on his show "Blue Bloods", wrote, "My entire building is under a foot of water. Awesome neighbors all banding together to help each other! Stay safe!"

Presenting evidence of the damage, Wahlberg also tweeted multiple videos showing his flooded home.

According to Billboard, artists such as John Legend, Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def,) Ghostface Killah and Vancouver-born Grimes cancelled their respective Oct. 28 shows, while Bruce Springsteen moved his concert in Rochester, New York, from Oct. 30 to Oct. 31.

All the while, musicians have been sending their messages of support via social media.

"The storm looks scary!! Water wreaks havoc..." Canadian singer Jann Arden tweeted. "Put on your wings on and get outta there!"

She also wrote, "Its such a testament to New York that none of my friends or family members have left. not even my blind grandma in NJ. i'm gonna say my prayers and go to sleep. Thinking of you all."
