Lil Wayne sings ‘Take Me Out To The Ball Game’ while rooting for the home team

While watching the San Francisco Giants play the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend, rapper Lil Wayne led the crowd in a group sing-a-long of the classic song "Take Me Out To The Ball Game."

It all happened on Oct. 21 at AT&T Park in San Francisco, Calif., during the seventh-inning stretch of the important National League Championship series game. After the event, Lil Wayne took to Twitter to express his feelings about the experience.

"Just sung 'take me out to the ball game' [at] the Giants game!!!" he said. "A true life highlight! I thank San Fran for rokkin wit me!"

The Young Money rapper is obviously a Giants fan, donning the team's jersey and hat and replacing the familiar 1908 song's lyric "Let's root, root, root for the home team" with "Let's root, root, root for the GIANTS!" (as fans of the home team usually do when singing it in their home stadium).

In addition to being entertaining, having Weezy perform during the game looks to have also been good luck for the San Francisco team, as the Giants beat the Cardinals 6 to 1.

According to The Library of Congress, "Take Me Out To The Ball game" has long been revered as "the 'other' national anthem" of the United States. It's considered one of the most recognizable songs in America, and there is actually a hidden romantic element to it.

"Only a handful of fans realize that the two verses of the song are about Katie Casey (later changed to Nelly Kelly)," the Performing Arts Encyclopaedia section reveals. "[She's] a girl who was mad with baseball fever as she asked her young beau to take her to a ballgame rather than a show."
